Music Director Position Description

Trinity UMC, Aiken, SC

Reports to: Pastor and Equipping Board

Position Status: Part-Time (~10 hours/week)

Salary Range: $10,000 to $12,000 per year

Benefits: 2 weeks vacation per year

Position Summary

The Music Director is responsible for all music ministries within the church in conversation with the Pastor.  Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: conducting rehearsals, providing/coordinating special music for Sundays and other worship services, revivals, and holiday services, including but not limited to Christmas Eve, Holy Week, and Ash Wednesday. The Music Director should develop a vision for the future of the music ministry at Trinity UMC.

Responsibilities

• Rehearse and direct choir/praise team.
• Consult with the Pastor on selecting appropriate hymns and choruses for Sunday worship and other special services.
• Coordinate special music, guest soloists, musicians and special holiday programs for worship services.
• Communicate with musicians for rehearsals and services.
• Select and purchase new music, as needed.
• Arrange for music for weddings, funerals, etc., as occasionally requested, as available.

Required Qualifications

• A functional working knowledge of vocal training and direction.
• Prior experience directing small choirs/praise teams.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education is desirable.
• Supports the ministry and vision of Trinity UMC and the United Methodist Church

Personal Leave

Vacation, personal time away from base duties scheduled with the Pastor. Vacation will begin with 2 weeks/year.
