Music Director Position Description

Trinity UMC, Aiken, SC

Reports to: Pastor and Equipping Board

Position Status: Part-Time (~10 hours/week)

Salary Range: $19 to $23 per hour

Benefits: 2 weeks paid vacation per year

Position Summary

The Music Director is responsible for all music ministries within the church in conversation with the Pastor.  Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: conducting rehearsals, providing/coordinating special music for Sundays and other worship services, and holiday services, including but not limited to Christmas Eve, Holy Week, and Ash Wednesday. The Music Director should develop a vision for the future of the music ministry at Trinity UMC.

Responsibilities

• Rehearse and direct choir/praise team.
• Consult with the Pastor on selecting appropriate hymns and choruses for Sunday worship and other special services.
• Coordinate special music, guest soloists, musicians and special holiday programs for worship services.
• Communicate with musicians for rehearsals and services.
• Select and purchase new music, as needed.
• Arrange for music for weddings, funerals, etc., as occasionally requested, as available.

Required Qualifications

• A functional working knowledge of vocal training and direction.
• Prior experience directing small choirs/praise teams.
• Supports the ministry and vision of Trinity UMC and the United Methodist Church.

Personal Leave

Vacation, personal time away from base duties scheduled with the Pastor. Vacation will begin with 2 weeks/year.
