Trinity has a very active women’s ministry, United Methodist Women (UMW), which is part of the national organization. The primary goal is to support missions at the local, district, conference and global levels and improve life for women, children, youth and marginalized neighbors worldwide.
United Methodist Women is a community of women whose purpose is to:
– Know God and experience freedom as a whole person through Jesus Christ
– Develop a creative supportive fellowship
– Expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church
The Trinity Unit was organized as the Women’s Society of Christian Service (WSCS) by Beulah Cline, Sue Gilmer, Edna Ruth Zachry and several other ladies. Later, when several denominations merged to become The United Methodist Church, the women’s group became UMW. Always active, this group has grown and consistently meets all criteria for a Five Star UMW.
General Meetings are held four times a year and include the special services, “Call to Prayer and Self Denial” and “The World Thank Offering.” Meeting times are announced in the monthly newsletter and weekly bulletins. The UMM and UMW hold a Yard Sale in the fall to raise money for mission projects, and they work together on the Women’s Tea in the spring.
Circles of UMW
Joy Circle
Friendship Circle
Circle of Light
All of the Circles have prayer and devotions, and do service and mission projects in the church and community. Meeting and event dates, times, and places are announced in newsletters and bulletins. Contact the church office for UMW contact information to learn more.
All women are invited to join the UMW and participate in fellowship and mission activities.
